June 21, 2015: Do you own a Samsung Galaxy device? There are chances that your mobile suffers from a security flaw that lets attackers install malware and listen to your calls without your information, reports mashable.com.

A Chicago-based security firm has claimed that a bug in Swift Keyboard software which come preinstalled on most of Samsung devices allows remote attacker to control user’s network traffic and execute arbitrary code on the phone.

What really makes things bad from worse is that if your phone has this software; it’s almost impossible to uninstall it, and hackers can exploit it even when you don’t use it.

This particular software runs under a privilege mode in the phone, which means that it can access most of the functions. An attacker, in this case, can exploit the loophole and secretly install malware on a user’s device. What’s more threating is that hacker can access the device’s camera, microphone and GPS, hear calls and reads messages or even steal photos and other crucial data.

NowSecure, the company who first published this report, notified Samsung of this security flaw in December 2014 along with CERT and Google’s Android Team. One good thing that happened was that Samsung was quick to respond and they started rolling out updates in early 2015.

However, beside Samsung Galaxy series, there are other potentially vulnerable devices that include the likes of Samsung Galaxy S6, S5, S4 & S4 mini. NowSecure reports that since the software cannot be uninstalled the best way to avoid being hacked is to stop unsecured Wi-Fi networks or use different mobile device. SwiftKey CMO confirmed that the problem is not related to SwiftKey consumer app.

“We supply Samsung with the core technology that powers the word predictions in their keyboard. It appears that the way this technology was integrated on Samsung devices introduced the security vulnerability,” he said in a statement.
